Brazilian urges compatriot to make Camp Nou move

AC Milan forward Robinho has advised friend and compatriot Neymar to choose Barcelona over Real Madrid when he decides which club to join. The Brazilian starlet has chosen to stay with boyhood side Santos until summer 2014 before deciding which of the many European giants pursuing him he should sign with. He recently shunned interest from Spain, as well as Chelsea, in order to pen a new deal at the Brazilian club. Robinho moved to the Spanish capital from Santos back in 2005 and spent three seasons with Los Merengues. But he believes making the same move would be a mistake for 19-year-old forward Neymar, who he believes would be a better fit at Camp Nou. "He should go to Barcelona, without doubt, because his style of play would suit them much more," Robinho is quoted as saying by Sport. "There is no vanity among the Barca players. In Madrid when a player is in front of goal it is much harder to be given the ball. At Barcelona it is not. "He would be appreciated much more there."

Circumstances

Robinho thinks Neymar has been sensible by committing himself to Santos for another three seasons rather than joining a high-profile European side immediately. "My circumstances and his are different. Economically going to Madrid was a very good decision for me," the former Manchester City star continued. "Only time will tell if staying in Brazil was a good decision for Neymar. If it was my time again I would not leave now. "When I saw the name Real Madrid I thought that they were the best in the world. I arrived there and found that things were very different. "Here he is seen as a genius and even if he does not play great he will play every game. There he will not. They have Cristiano Ronaldo, [Karim] Benzema and others. Mourinho can look to the bench and find other good players too."
