Nigel Reo-Coker has insisted there is not a sense of doom and gloom at Bolton ahead of Saturday's game against his former club Aston Villa.
The Trotters have lost 11 of their opening 14 games in the Premier League and are currently languishing in the relegation zone.
However, it is a congested section of the table and they will move within four points of ninth-placed Villa if they can pick up a victory this weekend.
Reo-Coker is confident Bolton can clamber away from danger and enjoy more success for the remainder of the season.
"If you look at the table and how close it is, two or three wins back-to-back can send you up to 10th," the midfielder told the
Daily Mirror.
"It is not doom and gloom and anyone can get dragged in at this stage - even Aston Villa. They have a very tough Christmas period of fixtures.
"It shows you how tight this league is. That is why it is not panic stations for us."
Disappointed
Reo-Coker remains upset about the manner of his departure from Aston Villa in the summer, having only found out from friends that he had been placed on the transfer list.
"I am very disappointed at the way the whole situation was handled," he reflected.
"From a professional perspective, I thought it could have been handled better. It was a bit of a mess about what could have been done and what couldn't have been done.
"I didn't know who was in charge as one person said one thing and another person said another."
