The agent of former France international David Trezeguet claims there is a good chance his client will sign for River Plate.
The 34-year-old striker is looking for employment after negotiating his release from Baniyas in the United Arab Emirates.
His stay in the Middle East was a short and unsuccessful one, but the World Cup winner is determined to take on another new challenge.
Trezeguet began his career in Argentina, having spent much of his childhood in South America, and is keen to make a return.
He would favour a switch to boyhood idols River, and his representative claims a deal could be done.
"There is a large chance that he will go to River Plate," Sergio Fortunato told Argentine radio.
"He wants to play in the Argentinian championship and he is a supporter of River Plate."
Career
Trezeguet began his career with Platense, before moving to Europe with Monaco in 1995.
Having made the breakthrough in France, he went on to spend 10 years with Italian giants Juventus.
He has since taken in spells with Spanish side Hercules and Baniyas, but has struggled to settle.
Trezeguet is, however, still more than useful in front of goal and River Plate would benefit greatly from having a player with 71 international caps to his name on their books.
