Midfielder responding well to treatment on groin injury

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson hopes Lee Frecklington will not require surgery if his groin injury continues to respond to specialist treatment. The midfielder has been nursing the problem for several weeks and was forced off for the second successive game during Posh's 1-0 victory over Coventry last weekend. It was thought the 26-year-old may need an operation to resolve the issue, but Frecklington may be in contention to play against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Boxing Day. "If the manipulation from the specialist continues to improve the injury we hope he won't need an operation," said boss Ferguson. "Tommy Rowe came through a similar thing last season but every player is different and you can never tell."
