Danish international Kahlenberg hoping to resurrect career in Ligue 1

Wolfsburg outcast Thomas Kahlenberg says he is hopeful of clinching a move to French side St Etienne in the New Year. The Denmark midfielder has been frozen out of the German club after being told he was surplus to requirements and made to train with the reserves by boss Felix Magath. Kahlenberg, 28, was handed a trial at Premier League side Blackburn Rovers earlier this year but failed to impress boss Steve Kean. Now the ex-Auxerre man is looking to clinch a return to Ligue 1 with St Etienne. "I am hopeful to receive the clearance that I am to move clubs," he told the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper. "And I think this will finally work now."
