Wolves have lodged an official appeal with the Football Association following Nenad Milijas' sending off in the Premier League draw at Arsenal on Tuesday.
The Serbian midfielder was sent off in the 75th minute of the 1-1 draw at the Emirates for a challenge on Mikel Arteta by referee Stuart Attwell.
After the game manager Mick McCarthy described his challenge as 'never a red' and announced the club would launch an appeal, which has now been confirmed.
"I think there will be no doubt about it when everyone sees it, and I hope that when the referee sees it, he's magnanimous enough to know that he's made a mistake and he'll rescind it," McCarthy told Sky Sports News .
Gervinho gave the Gunners the lead before Wolves levelled before the break thanks to Steven Fletcher's effort and, despite Milijas' late sending off, the Black Country side gained their first away point since August.
The FA is expected to hear the appeal and make a decision before Wanderers' next game, which is away at Bolton on Saturday, and it could see the automatic three-match ban rescinded.
