Reports suggest Rangers defender fancies new challenge away from Ibrox

Rangers boss Ally McCoist wants to keep Bosnian left-back Sasa Papac beyond the end of the season. Reports have suggested the 31-year-old will quit Ibrox when his contract expires in the summer. He agreed a new one-year deal last summer but is thought to want a new challenge after spending almost six years with the Glasgow giants. But the Gers manager is hopeful of persuading Papac to extend his stay.

Fight

McCoist said: "I was disappointed to hear that and I won't let that go without a fight. "Sasa has been here for a good number of years now and he is a top player. "I don't want to be in the business of not retaining the services of good footballers. "I would hope we could talk him into staying. He has only signed for a year and I'm aware we will have to get moving on that one." The defender, the club's second longest-serving player, has made over 200 appearances since joining from Austria Vienna.
