Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has revealed the chance to play in the Olympics is his motivation to return from injury.
The 25-year-old is out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury suffered last month but has still been included on Team GB's shortlist for next summer's tournament.
Taylor insists he will not rush his recovery but admits the chance to play for Stuart Pearce's side at London 2012 is a great motivation to get back playing.
"I would like to set the Olympics as my goal - that's one target. It would be a massive honour to be involved," said the Magpies stopper.
"I got a letter - among a lot of British players - about it and hopefully I can get myself into the mix. If I can, it would be amazing.
"It gives me something to look forward to. You've got to have a goal and I want something to get focused on.
"Once I feel comfortable and the medical team are happy, that's when I will be back, but I won't rush myself."
