Leicester City defender Sean St Ledger is considering which club he wants to join after a fee and personal terms were agreed with Ipswich Town.
The Republic of Ireland international, who needs games ahead of Euro 2012, was a target for Town over the summer, but they were thwarted in their efforts by Leicester.
St Ledger signed a three-year contract from Preston North End, however, he has failed to have the desired impact at the King Power Stadium after making just eight league starts.
Ipswich are keen to shore up a defence which is the worst in the Championship having conceded an unrivalled 47 league goals.
Decision
They have therefore finalised a deal with Leicester for St Ledger, while the 27-year-old has himself also reached agreement over terms, but he also has options.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell said: "Everything's agreed between the two clubs and with the player's personal terms.
"I spoke to him on Monday. He has got a few options. Hopefully he will choose us. But we're waiting on an answer."
Jewell added: "I spoke to him at length over the weekend. He just wants to make sure he makes the right decision, because there are a few teams in for him.
"Hopefully we'll sell Ipswich as a long-term plan rather than a short-term option."
