Scottish defender looking forward to Championship test

Richard Foster is looking forward to testing himself in English football, with a switch to Bristol City offering him a fresh start. The 26-year-old has joined the Robins from SPL outfit Aberdeen, bringing to an end a nine-year stint at Pittodrie. He admits he was not even contemplating moving on when the January transfer window opened, but is delighted to have had an exciting opportunity put in front of him. Foster admits it may take him some time to grow accustomed to his new surroundings, but he is confident he can handle the rigours of life in the Championship. "It was difficult because I know everyone there (Aberdeen) and know the club inside out," he told Bristol City Player.

Positive

"But this is a new challenge and one I'm looking forward to. "It wasn't something I was thinking about, but when the option came up I spoke to a few people and spoke to the manager here. Everything sounded positive. "I'm excited. It's a different league for me, one I've not played in before and I've only heard good things about the city and the club. "It seems to be moving in the right direction, so I just felt it was the right time to move on. It was an easy decision."
