Accrington defender Leam Richardson will take temporary charge of the club following manager John Coleman's departure to Rochdale.

Richardson, 32, has made 147 appearances for Stanley since joining from Blackpool in 2005 and he will be assisted by veteran midfielder Bryan Hughes and head of youth Phil Hackney. "Leam has been part of the first team set-up at the club for a long time and is a popular choice amongst the players," said Accrington chief executive Rob Heys in a club statement. "He'll be supported by our head of youth Phil Hackney, who is a hugely qualified and experienced coach, and Bryan Hughes, who has played at the very highest level and under some high-profile managers." Heys confirmed the club have already received applications for the vacant managerial position but insisted no rash decision will be made. "We won't rush into an appointment but once we find the right person we'll move to bring them in as soon as we can," he added.
