Birmingham have emerged as potential transfer suitors for West Brom's Simon Cox, although the striker admits he is happy to stay at the Hawthorns.
City boss Chris Hughton recently revealed that the Championship club had made an enquiry for the 24-year-old after the player's concerns over a lack of first-team action.
However, Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is reluctant to let the former Reading and Swindon man leave despite Cox's concerns, which could prevent him being included in the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 squad.
And while Cox has been included in every matchday squad this season, he has failed to hold down a regular starting place, although he is still keen to sign a contract extension with his current deal due to expire next summer.
He told Sky Sports News: "It's not up to me, it's up to the football club and I'm just happy to be back in the team and you know, we'll just wait and see what happens."
And asked whether he would love to stay on a personal level, he admitted: "I'd love to get a new deal and stay for a longer period of time.
"Obviously I've got 18 months left and we'll just see what happens by the 31st January."
