Pearson keen to strengthen his squad

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson remains keen to strengthen his squad in the January window amid reports he wants to sign Stoke wide-man Ben Marshall. Injuries, with Paul Gallacher having picked up a new back injury, and departures may have altered the King Power Stadium boss' plans slightly, but at the beginning of the year he said he was interested in wingers. Marshall is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to sign an extension to make him a prime candidate and several clubs are monitoring his situation. But Leicester could progress in their interest this week, as Pearson said in the Leicester Mercury: "I am always looking to strengthen the team and the squad, because we have picked up one or two knocks. "With the departure of one or two players this week we don't have great numbers. "We are trying to build on a squad ethic so when we do pick up injuries or players are out of form we have players who can go in there. "One of our aims in the window was to bring in some wide players, but circumstances have changed a bit and we are just trying to get good players into the football club." Meanwhile, teenagers Liam Moore and Shane Byrne have agreed new contracts with Leicester, which will keep them at the club until the summer of 2013.
