Argentine midfielder extends contract for further two years

Valencia midfielder Ever Banega has extended his contract with the Primera outfit for a further two seasons. The 23-year-old Argentina international's former deal ran until the end of next season, but he has now been rewarded for his consistent form at La Mestalla. Banega - who has attracted admiring glances from the Premier League in the past - has consented to a two-year extension and is now tied to Valencia until the summer of 2015. "I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to continue here and gain more years playing in this team," Banega stated. "I have already been at the club for a few years and am very happy. I hope to continue in the same manner." Banega joined Valencia as a teenager from Boca Juniors in January 2008 and has subsequently made over 100 appearances in Spanish football, including a season-long loan spell at Atletico Madrid. Valencia president Manuel Llorente added: "In the last few years he has shown his value. He has evolved both as a player and a person and is one of the most impressive individuals I have seen at the club."
