A previous working relationship with Mark Hughes and the ambition of Queens Park Rangers proved decisive in Nedum Onuoha's move to Loftus Road.
The versatile defender has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at Loftus Road after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Manchester City for his transfer.
Onuoha's arrival follows the loan signing of AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo as Hughes sets about remodelling the struggling squad he inherited from predecessor Neil Warnock.
QPR boss Hughes has spoken of his admiration of Onuoha and the latest new face in West London has been equally complimentary of the Welshman after they worked together at City.
Onuoha told his new employer's official website: "This was the right time for me to join a club like QPR.
Open and honest
"The manager obviously played a massive factor in my decision to come here. I've worked with him before and he always wants players around him who are open and honest.
"He wouldn't have come here if he didn't believe that there was a squad of players here that can achieve the goals he has.
"The ambition of the owners was really appealing.
"This is my club now and I'll give everything to help us succeed."
Onuoha could make his QPR debut in Saturday's FA Cup fourth round London derby against Chelsea.
