Bulgarian forward returns to Italy on loan

Bulgaria international Valeri Bojinov is to take in a second spell with Serie A outfit Lecce after joining the club on loan from Sporting Lisbon. Having incurred the wrath of Sporting supporters with his recent showings, the 25-year-old has welcomed the opportunity to return to familiar surroundings in Italy. Bojinov made his name with Lecce, having burst onto the scene as a precociously-gifted teenager in 2002. He was just 15 when he made his bow for the club, making him the youngest foreign player to appear in the Italian top flight. Since then his career has experienced a number of peaks and troughs, with questionable moves and injury troubles hampering his progress. Bojinov is hoping a return to his sporting roots will allow him to enjoy his football again and see him recapture his best form. "I'm already a Lecce player," said the forward, who has also represented Fiorentina, Juventus, Manchester City and Parma over the course of his career. "There's even a possibility of playing against Udinese tomorrow (Wednesday)."
