Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is waiting to see if Tottenham Hotspur make a late bid for Hugo Rodallega after confirming Fulham striker Andrew Johnson rejected a move to the DW Stadium.
Rodallega is out of contract at Wigan at the end of the season and has been tipped to leave the club before the close of the transfer window on Tuesday night.
The Colombia international has attracted interest from several clubs and has already been the subject of a failed bid from Queens Park Rangers.
The Latics had agreed a deal with Fulham which would have seen Rodallega move to Craven Cottage and former England international Johnson head in the opposite direction.
Johnson has rejected the chance to join Roberto Martinez's side and Rodallega has now emerged as a target for Tottenham.
Wigan face Spurs at White Hart Lane on Tuesday evening and Whelan admits he would not be surprised if Harry Redknapp made a move at the 'very last minute'.
Leave it late
"We are used to Tottenham making a last minute bid on transfer deadline day, and by last minute, I mean the very last minute," Whelan told ESPNsoccernet.
"I have seen Spurs linked with Rodallega for some time, but we have not received a bid, not even an enquiry as far as I know.
"But that doesn't mean they won't make a bid, but if they do they always leave it late, very late.
"It might make sense to cash in now, but if he stays with us to the end of the season he can help us stay up, which would be worth far more than a transfer fee."
Whelan also confirmed Johnson had shunned a move to the North West, although he is unsure of the exact reasons for the player's decision.
He added: "I've no idea why Johnson said no, I think he didn't fancy coming north.
"It would have been a good deal for us, but that's football."
