Wes Morgan says joining Leicester City marks the start of a new chapter in his life.
The defender had spent his entire career at Nottingham Forest after joining the club as a trainee in 2002.
After being rejected as a teenager by Notts County, Morgan went on to make over 300 league appearances for rivals Forest.
But, after nearly 10 years with the club, the 27-year-old decided the opportunity to join Leicester City was too good to turn down.
The £1million signing could make his debut in Wednesday's game with Middlesbrough.
Morgan told the
Leicester Mercury: "It was a big decision to leave Forest, but I felt the time was right.
"Leicester are a club potentially moving towards the Premier League, so I'm here to help the cause.
"It's a new challenge for me and a new start. I'm here to play and I want to help the team as much as I can.
"There are a lot of games coming up, so I'm looking forward to it."
Stoke winger Ben Marshall also joined the East Midlands side for £750,000 on a deal until 2015.
The 20-year-old had been on loan at Sheffield Wednesday this season, making 22 appearances and netting five times.
Marshall said on Twitter: "Great first day training. Would like to just thank all the Sheffield Wed fans and the club for putting me in this position."
