Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he intended to be in charge of the Blues for as long as eight years.
The Italian was appointed on a three-year contract in 2009 and won the club's first-ever double in his first season in charge, but after failing to win a trophy last season he was sacked in May.
The ex-AC Milan boss returned to management in December with big-spending Paris St Germain and, although he has initially signed until 2014, he insists he is in it for the long haul.
"I joined the club because it is ambitious, not for money," he told
L'Equipe. "I don't earn one euro more than I did at Chelsea.
"I spent eight years on the Milan bench and I expected to spend eight years on the Chelsea bench.
"I hope to stay eight years in Paris, but the presence of a coach depends on so many turns of events."
Ancelotti was appointed in time to act in the winter transfer window and brought in Brazilian defender Alex from Chelsea, while also signing midfield pair Maxwell and Thiago Motta.
"The opportunity to sign them was fantastic, above all because they were not that expensive," he said.
"Those three players will be three very important characters in the squad."
New Pastore role
Javier Pastore was their big summer signing and the Argentinian has already scored seven goals in 18 games to help PSG to the top of Ligue 1. However, Ancelotti feels he could be more effective out wide than in attack.
"We have a very good midfield with players like Sissoko, Bodmer, Thiago Motta, Matuidi and Chantome," he said.
"We will go on playing with three midfielders until the end of the season and I would like to try Pastore lower on the pitch, on the left.
"I have players to play up front but in the future we will need an additional forward, a top-level player."
He is expected to be a high-profile foreign player, like most of PSG's new signings since their new owners took over, but Ancelotti has not ruled out signing players from other Ligue 1 sides.
"PSG is a French club and it is important it keeps a backbone of French players," he added.
"It is clear that Ligue 1 players can be part of the future of the club. There would be no problem to see French players signing here."
