City winger insists there was contact from Baird
Manchester City winger Adam Johnson has rejected the notion he dived to win a penalty in Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham.
The former Middlesbrough man won a spot-kick for his team-mates following a challenge from Chris Baird at the Etihad Stadium.
It has been suggested Johnson went down despite little contact between the pair but he insists there was a touch from Baird.
Contact
"I felt the contact," explained Johnson. "Sometimes in normal time, when you are in the moment, you anticipate contact.
"There is a fine line between diving and anticipating contact but I felt it and went down. These things happen."
It was a rare Premier League start for Johnson and manager Roberto Mancini was happy with the 24-year-old's performance.
"Adam did well," said Mancini. "He deserved to have this chance and I hope he can continue because now we have three important months and we need him."
