Bristol City manager Derek McInnes has hailed the signing of Middlesbrough's Stephen McManus after he swooped for him ahead of their game with Crystal Palace.
McManus has signed on loan for the rest of the season and the deal was done just in time for him to make his debut against Palace.
McManus managed to play the whole 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw, and McInnes was delighted to get him.
"I'm delighted we've got Stephen on loan until the end of the season, given his experience and calibre," he said.
"We're not just signing a player, we're signing a man, a captain and a leader. He's captained Scotland and Celtic and I want as many captains in my team as possible.
"He'll bring a presence to our back four. He has played at the highest level for many years in Scotland and is vastly experienced."
The 29-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at Boro under Tony Mowbray - who sold him to Middlesbrough during his time with Celtic.
McInnes added: "Stephen has not featured for Middlesbrough as much as he would have liked, but this move enables him to do what he does best.
"He wants to be part of our team, which is important, and I look forward to working with him."
