Frenchman says striker set to join him at Shanghai Shenhua

Didier Drogba could be about to join Shanghai Shenhua, according to his former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka. Anelka joined the Chinese Super League side on a two-year deal in January and is now hoping he could be reunited with his former Chelsea strike partner. Drogba has not played for Chelsea since December due to the Africa Cup of Nations, where he finished as a runner-up with the Ivory Coast. He is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and reports suggest that the 33-year-old could be ready to swap West London for Shanghai in the summer. "I personally would like to see Drogba join Shanghai Shenhua," Anelka said in French, which was translated into Chinese and then into English. He added: "Yes I am frequently in contact with him. I think Drogba should be joining us, if all goes well, but that is not my position to announce."
