Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is positive that the arrival of Louis Saha at White Hart Lane will help the club in their bid to stay in the Premier League title race.
The Frenchman joined the North London side on transfer deadline day in a surprise move from Everton, which ended his three-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside.
And the 33-year-old went on to score twice on his full debut in a 5-0 thumping of his former club Newcastle.
Now Adebayor is confident that his new strike partner can help the club's pursuit of winning their first league title in 51 years.
"I have immediate respect for Louis. I know him from when I was at Metz, he was the senior player, I was the youth player and I used to look up to him," Adebayor said.
"Now to have the chance to play alongside him, it was a pleasure.
"I'm happy for him. It was his first game at home and he scored two goals.
"Hopefully he will be the striker that we need who can give us a push until the end of the season.
"At the moment we are third and we have to keep going, keep fighting and see how far we can go."
