Ipswich Town have secured the future of Josh Carson after the teenage midfielder signed a new contract to stay at Portman Road until 2014.
Carson's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season and the Northern Ireland international had initially been offered an extension last month.
The 18-year-old has now signed the deal, which includes the option of a further year, and he is looking forward to cementing a place in the Ipswich side.
"Obviously I'm delighted that it's done and dusted now and I've signed here for the next two years," Josh told the club's official website.
"I've not got involved in the negotiations, I've left that to my agent but there was never any doubt that I'd be staying here.
"I'm still only 18 and over the next two years I want to build on what I have done so far and get myself in the first team week in, week out.
"That's my immediate target, to play as much first-team football as I can at Ipswich Town. I've come up through the ranks here and I really want to help the club push on."
Carson made his debut against Scunthorpe United in March last year and he has made 14 appearances for Paul Jewell's side this season.
