Striker ready to consider his options this summer

Lucas Barrios insists he is not ready to spend another season warming the substitutes bench at Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund. The Paraguay striker, who has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, has fallen out of favour with coach Jurgen Klopp. And the 27-year-old is now no longer guaranteed a place in the starting XI at the Westfalenstadion, falling behind Poland striker Robert Lewandowski in the pecking order. The South American has said he will consider his options this summer unless he gets more first-team football, although Klopp has given Barrios more game time since Christmas, but mainly off the bench.

Unhappy

"Of course, I do not want to sit on the bench for a second season," Barrios told German magazine Sport Bild, having extended his contract last summer until 2015. "That is not what being a professional footballer is about. I'm unhappy, but I'm waiting for my chance as a professional. "It is difficult on the other hand for me to accept this after such a successful season." The one major stumbling block for some Premier League clubs interested in Barrios could be his wages as he is currently reported to be pocketing a figure close to £100,000 a week.
