Clichy - We must take chances

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy believes the team cannot afford to be so wasteful in front of goal if they are to win the title.

Defender unconcerned about goal award

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy believes the team cannot afford to be so wasteful in front of goal if they are to win the title. The Premier League leaders maintained their title charge with a straightforward 2-0 win over Bolton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. But Roberto Mancini's men spurned a number of good opportunities and Clichy feels City need to be more professional in future. Clichy told the club's official website: "After 10 minutes we could have been 4-0 up, it is then a different game. "At the end of the day we kept a clean sheet and scored two goals, but we have to be more efficient in front of goal and be more professional.

Chances

"Those kind of chances are good chances and we can't afford, against a bigger team, not to score those chances." It was Clichy's strike that led to the opener and, although it was officially recorded as an own goal, the defender is unconcerned. He added: "I don't mind really. If it is my goal, that's fine, but I couldn't care less about who is scoring goals. "We got the three points and that is the most important thing. "There are 11 games to go and if we have a run of 11 games without losing or drawing we know we are going to win the title."
