Jordan Henderson is looking forward to his first return to the Stadium of Light after his £18million move from Sunderland to Liverpool last summer.
The midfielder spent 14 years at his hometown club before making the switch to Merseyside.
The 21-year-old made his debut for the Reds against Sunderland at Anfield in August and was given a mixed reception by the away fans.
Despite that, the England Under 21 captain is looking forward to his return to Wearside on Saturday.
He said: "I am looking forward to the game but I expect it will feel a bit strange having to go into the away dressing room for the first time!
"It felt strange playing against Sunderland on the first day of the season.
"Although I have become used to the fact I am a Liverpool player, tomorrow is bound to be a bit odd for me seeing all the staff again."
Henderson remains a Black Cats fan despite his move and follows the club like any other supporter would.
He added: "I am really pleased about the way they have picked up in the last few months after a poor start to the season.
"I may have left the club but I still have loads of friends there and I want them to do well.
"I hope Sunderland win every game they play, as long as I am not on the opposing side!
"There is no reason why they cannot have a strong end to the season either because there are an awful lot of good players in the squad."
The midfielder insists he enjoyed his time he spent at the Stadium of Light, but that he had to make the move to Liverpool to further his career.
"I was happy at Sunderland but when a club like Liverpool comes in for you, you have to see it for the opportunity it is," he continued.
"I have won a League Cup medal in my first season and we have not given up on a Champions League place either."
