Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney spoke of his relief to be back playing after coming on as a second-half substitute in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Norwich City.
The former Aston Villa winger returned to first-team action at Carrow Road having not previously featured in the Premier League for nearly five months.
Maloney was signed from Celtic last summer but has struggled to make an impression on Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.
The Scotland international told the club's official website: "It's been a while since I've had a run-out, and it has been a frustrating few months since I've been here.
"It was nice to get out there and show what you can do, and be of value to the team."
Not good enough
The 29-year-old will be hoping he can have an impact during the remainder of the season, but believes his side need to improve their home form if they are to avoid relegation.
"We need to take this performance into Saturday and pick up all three points against West Brom. There are 10 games left and they're all vital - none more so than Saturday because it's a home game.
"Everyone is well aware we have to improve our home form because it's not been good enough."
