Gillingham have snapped up Rowan Vine on loan from QPR until the end of the season.

The experienced striker went on trial at League Two rivals Southend last week, duly bagging the only goal of the game for the Essex club's reserve side in a narrow 1-0 victory over Oxford's second string. But Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock opted against signing Vine, revealing concerns over his fitness with the 29-year-old having not played first-team football since September. Yet Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has moved for the marksman and, having trained with his new team-mates on Thursday morning, Vine is in contention to make his debut in Saturday's trip to Bradford.
