Striker linked with move to Bayern

Werder Breman have played down speculation linking key striker Claudio Pizarro with a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich. Pizarro spent time with Bayern earlier in his career and recent reports have suggested he could be set to return to the Allianz Arena. A number of other clubs are also thought to be tracking the progress of the 33-year-old Peru international, but Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs does not mind his players attracting interest. Allofs feels confident that Bremen can keep hold of Pizarro, whose current contract expires in June 2013, although he sees no need to rush into talks. "I do not want to reduce such rumours down to just this link with Bayern Munich," Allofs told Deutsche Presseagentur.

Something special

"But if players of our club are not of any interest for other clubs this would rather point out that we would not have any good players. "I reckon there will be some clubs keen on Claudio Pizarro but there should be no doubt. I think Werder Bremen has better chances than most of them. "There has to be something special to see Claudio Pizarro turn his back on us, I feel. "We should have no hurry to sit down. Still, we are definitely keen to see him stay on at Werder Bremen."
