Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says it looks 'positive' as Victor Moses bids to be fit for Saturday's crucial clash with Stoke.
The 21-year-old was kicked in the head by Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in the process of winning a penalty that put the Latics on the way to a shock 2-1 win at Anfield last weekend.
Scans allayed initial fears Moses might have broken his jaw and he is now pushing to feature as Wigan bid to extend their unbeaten run to four games against the Potters at the DW Stadium.
Martinez said: "At the moment I would say it is 70 per cent he is going to be fully fit, but that is as much as I can say at the moment.
"The reports from the hospital were very positive but we need to see how he reacts to the work in training.
"It looks positive but he is not going to be 100 per cent until Friday.
"At least there is no fracture, which we were a little bit fearful about."
Slight chance
But Martinez believes striker Hugo Rodallega and midfielder Mohamed Diame only have a 'slight chance' of being involved, with the duo having been sidelined with knee and groin injuries respectively.
He said: "They have been stepping up in their recovery programme but it is too early to say if they are going to be involved on Saturday.
"They have probably got a slight chance - but it is probably 60% that they are not going to be involved.
"But I don't expect them to be out for too long. I am hoping a week on Saturday they will be available, which would be very positive."
Despite that, Martinez reports high spirits in the Latics camp after their memorable success at Anfield.
The win means Martinez's side are now only a point off 17th place after a run of just one defeat in seven games, and he added: "It is a real lift.
"In football the hardest thing to take is playing well and not getting the result, and that is the feeling we had after the draw against West Brom.
"That really sets you back a bit but the reaction was very good on the pitch and to get that result gives you back the confidence and the belief."
