Ian Holloway concedes a knee ligament injury suffered by Roman Bednar is likely to keep the striker out of action for the remainder of the season.
The Czech forward sustained the problem shortly after netting his first goal for the Seasiders in a Championship clash with Leicester on 21st March.
The 28-year-old had been showing signs of promise at that point, having joined the Bloomfield Road ranks on a short-term deal in January.
Holloway admits losing the former Hearts and West Brom frontman is an untimely blow to his plans, with other options now having to be explored.
He has offered hope to Bednar in his efforts to earn an extended stay by saluting his performances so far, but admits there is little chance of him being granted further opportunities to impress.
Huge difference
"He's going to struggle to be back in any sort of shape or form with a knee ligament like that," Holloway told the club's
official website.
"Never say never, but I'll do really well to get anything out of him.
"Roman has made a huge difference, I think, since he's been here.
"The times he has come off the bench, the score when he went on has been totally turned around. He was a huge part of that down at Cardiff when he came on with Kev (Phillips).
"It's very frustrating for him, let alone me."
