Stewart Downing has challenged his Liverpool team-mates to produce a positive reaction after their shock defeat against Wigan at Anfield.
Liverpool's home form has been woeful this campaign but on the road they have managed to glean better results.
Sunday will see them tackle Newcastle, who are sixth in the table and eight points ahead of Kenny Dalglish's men.
Downing and his team-mates are aware they have lost five of their last six league matches but he has revealed their determination to arrest this slump is as strong as ever.
He said: "I think it's very important [there's a reaction]. The last game was very disappointing to lose at Anfield.
"It's a big game for us and the good thing about football is there is always a game a couple of days away to put it right - and that is what we're looking to do at Newcastle.
"The mood in training has been good. We had a chat when we came in and said we would not dwell on the Wigan result.
"We have to be right for Newcastle because it's going to be a tough game for us, but one I think we can win.
"We'll have to be on our guard against them because they've proven this season they can beat anyone and that's why they are where they are in the league.
"But we're always confident at Liverpool we can win anywhere we go.
"We've had some disappointing results but we're always confident we can win the next game."
