Pilgrims trio pen news deals

Plymouth Argyle trio Luke Young, Curtis Nelson and Jared Sims have all penned new contracts with the Devon club.

The teenagers have signed up for next season despite the Pilgrims currently fighting a relegation scrap. Manager Carl Fletcher was delighted the club had managed to tie them down to new deals. "I'm really pleased," he told the club's official website. "They're young lads and it is important for the club to get them signed up. "It's another chance for them to get out there and an opportunity for them to give professional football a chance." Defender Nelson signed for the Pilgrims in 2009 after being released by Stoke City and has gone on to make over 50 appearances before he's turned 19. Young, 18, has made 28 appearances for his hometown club, scoring one goal. Sims, 18, made his debut this season against Millwall in the Carling Cup, but has struggled to break into the first team on a regular basis.
