Former Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf will miss the rest of Hannover's season after suffering ankle ligament damage.
The 24-year-old had to limp off in their Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg on Wednesday night and will not feature for their final four games.
He has scored 10 goals in his 15 games since joining in January as they push for a Europa League place.
He said: "I am very disappointed with the injury after scoring my sixth goal of the season against Wolfsburg.
"I was not expecting an injury, so I am devastated, because I was having a run in the team, week in, week out.
"Hopefully I will be ready for next season and decide what to do.
"I've loved it here, the team has a good spirit and I was getting on with my team-mates."
Diouf joined for an undisclosed fee after spending three years at Manchester United, during which time he went on loan to Blackburn Rovers.
Despite scoring just three goals for the Lancashire club, he has found his form and manager Mirko Slomka has expressed his frustrations with the injury.
He told BILD: "Mama being out for the season is a serious blow.
"It is very tough as he is an important striker for us. We should not complain however as we have four matches left.
"All we should focus on is the next four fixtures."
