Phil Jagielka is aiming to reclaim his place in the Everton side as he plans to gatecrash England's Euro 2012 squad.

England international hoping to keep pressure on duo

Phil Jagielka is aiming to reclaim his place in the Everton side but accepts that it will be difficult to dislodge John Heitinga or Sylvain Distin. The 29-year-old has found his chances limited by the partnership of Heitinga and Distin at the heart of the Toffees defence. He was dropped for the semi-final defeat against Liverpool despite having played the three previous Premier League games.

Ideal

Everton now have just five league games left before the term ends and the former Sheffield United stopper is determined to force his way into David Moyes' team. "If my role is to keep John and Sylvain playing as well as they can - or to give them a rest for a game - I'll do that," he told the Liverpool Echo. "It's not ideal for me, but we are part of a team and a squad that want to do well."
