Midfielder hoping to do enough to earn a new contract

St Johnstone midfielder Jamie Adams hopes to make his return from a lengthy lay-off at the weekend and boost his claims for a new contract. Adams has been restricted to just five appearances for Saints this season and has not played since September due to a hip injury. However, he has been building up his fitness over the past month and is in line to make his first-team comeback against Dundee United on Saturday. The 24-year-old's deal at McDiarmid Park expires at the end of the season and Adams is keen to prove to manager Steve Lomas that he merits an extension. "I have been back in training for about a month and I'm feeling good," said Adams in the Daily Record. "Every game left is huge and it would be great to play against United. "My contract is up in the summer and I'd love to stay but I haven't played much due to injury so we will have to see what happens."
