Mendez-Laing hoping to play

Wolves' highly-rated youngster Nathaniel Mendez-Laing insists that his season is far from over, despite the club's relegation to the Championship. The Black Country outfit's fait was sealed on Sunday following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, but they still have three games remaining in the top-flight. The 20-year-old has made a full recovery from a long-term knee injury, which has kept him sidelined since October and he told Sky Sports that he is keen to make his mark on the first-team before the end of the season. "If I can play this season and catch the eye then I can go into pre-season full of confidence and raring to make a good impression early on. "Obviously, I'm not sure what will happen with manager situation, but as long as I am doing well and in contention for selection then that is all that matters. "It was very important for Wolves to remain in the Premier League because no club wants to get relegated, especially when that means leaving the top-flight. "Everyone has put 100 per cent into keeping the club in the Premier League and the fans can see that, but obviously it wasn't good enough and we'll just have to re-group and come back next season even better."
