John Terry believes the Chelsea board will have an easy decision to make about who to appoint as permanent manager if Roberto Di Matteo secures UEFA Champions League glory.
Di Matteo has transformed the team's fortunes since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas on an interim basis until the end of the season.
The Blues could still finish in the top four of the Premier League but their greatest achievements this season have come in other competitions, after winning the FA Cup on Saturday thanks to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley.
Chelsea have also made it through to the final of the Champions League, where they will face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on 19th May, and Terry feels Di Matteo would have to get the job if they triumph in Europe.
Asked about Di Matteo after the FA Cup win, Terry said: "It's a decision the board are going to make and hopefully with this win we can go on and achieve greatness in this club.
"We can make it very easy for the board because he's been exceptional. I think this win can help us win the Champions League with the momentum it gives us."
Another man whose future continues to be the subject of speculation is Didier Drogba, who will be out of contract at the end of the season and has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.
Drogba became the first man to score in four cup finals when he found the target against Liverpool and Terry admits it would be a blow to lose such a player.
"It will be such a shame because he's been incredible for this club," said the defender.
"Throughout the world, when people look at Chelsea, they think of Didier and Lamps (Frank Lampard) and these kind of players. They are Chelsea.
"Did loves the club. We've got a massive Champions League game in a couple of weeks and, after that, hopefully something can be thrashed out and he stays."
