Queens Park Rangers striker Djibril Cisse insists that he still hopes to make France's squad for Euro 2012.
The 30-year-old has impressed in England since moving to Loftus Road in January, bagging five goals in just seven games - although he has also picked up two red cards.
But Cisse is hopeful that his goalscoring form will be enough to impress Laurent Blanc, who has picked him during his tenure with Les Bleus.
"I have always stated that the French team is very important in my career. I have not changed my philosophy," he told
L'Equipe.
"Indeed, scoring goals is important and I believe the French team staff is following my performances.
"Laurent Blanc has been a player and he saw the two red cards I got. The first one is a bad reaction due to my old injuries. You can understand it, but it will not happen again. The second one is a bad tackle. I won't be judged on those two sending-offs! I should be judged on my goals."
Peak
Cisse insists that he has never felt better and that he is at his peak.
"How do I feel? At my very best on every level, physically and mentally," he continued.
"After being back from my suspension, the coach put me on the bench against Tottenham, without playing me. Against Chelsea he played me as a left winger, which is not my position. I didn't say anything and did as many runs as possible on the flank, and I even scored.
"On Sunday I was back on the bench. I came from the bench and scored. If you are not strong mentally, it is useless. I showed I am. The coach can rely on me, just like the national team coach could rely on me if he calls me."
Cisse scored the winner against Stoke City at the weekend and he hopes that will be enough for QPR to retain their Premier League status.
"I hope that goal will be the one of salvation. It is an important goal which may be worth its weight in gold," he said.
"We are in good position to get salvation, even if we have a little effort to achieve next Sunday, hoping Bolton will not win.
"The coach let me on the bench and I wanted to show him he was wrong. At kick-off, even if I didn't play, I was very focused, ready to come in and play. Then, I did what I had to do."
