Slocombe signs new two-year contract

Sky Sports understands highly-rated Scunthorpe goalkeeper Sam Slocombe has agreed a new deal at the club. Slocombe, who swept the board at the club's end of season awards by winning five prizes, has been rewarded for his fine form with a new two-year deal. The 23-year-old has been one of Scunthorpe's shining lights this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 30 appearances for the Iron. Slocombe's performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of clubs thought to be keeping tabs on the custodian's progress at Glanford Park. Spurs goalkeeping coach Tony Parkes is thought to have been an interested observer at several Scunthorpe games in recent weeks, while several other sides are watching the keeper. However, Scunthorpe have moved to tie down Slocombe with the keeper impressing since joining the Iron as a professional from Bottesford Town in 2008.
