Holmes' agent hits out at Tranmere over contract

Danny Holmes' agent has hit out at Tranmere over their handling of his new contract. Tranmere have taken up an option to extend Holmes' stay with the defender's previous deal expiring this summer. A number of clubs have been weighing up moves to sign Holmes, but Tranmere moved to fend off the interest in the full-back by exercising the one-year option in his contract. Holmes' agent, Jonathan Hope, has been trying to hold talks with Rovers about the long-term future, but has been unable to make contact with club officials. Hope has expressed his unhappiness with how the club have dealt with the matter and revealed a couple of rival teams are ready to snap up the 23-year-old on a pre-contract in January.

"I am not happy at how Tranmere have handled the situation," Hope told skysports.com. "I have tried to make contact with both the chief executive and manager and left countless messages for them, but no one has got back to me. "I think I deserve the general courtesy of a phonecall back as I am Danny's agent, but I have not had anything back. "It is disappointing, but it is nothing to do with Danny as he loves Tranmere and he will continue to do his best for the club while he is there. "The way I have been treated I am inclined to get Danny to sign a pre-contract with a club in January as there are a couple of clubs interested in him and we will see what happens."
