Roberto Di Matteo expects a late decision to be made on the availability of Chelsea defenders Gary Cahill and David Luiz for the UEFA Champions League final but intends to 'push them' in training this week.
Both players were absent for the Blues' final Premier League game of the season against Blackburn on Sunday as the Londoners triumphed 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Cahill and Luiz are struggling with respective hamstring injuries but caretaker boss Di Matteo says he is working hard to ensure they will be fit for next Saturday's decider against Bayern Munich in Germany.
He told Chelsea's official website: "They are getting better day by day and we are going to try to push them on from tomorrow.
"We are going to try to push them this week in training and see how far we can take them."
Di Matteo travelled to Berlin to watch Bayern in action on Saturday night and saw them beaten 5-2 by Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.
But the manager does not expect that result to have any bearing on the final next weekend.
"It was very interesting to watch the game and I was very impressed with Borussia Dortmund. I have few interesting ideas, but Bayern Munich are a good side," he added.
"I think the Champions League final is a 50-50 game. It is two big clubs with two good teams and it doesn't matter much how many goals they conceded the other night. But we have belief and we have the players and we will try to prepare the best that we can."
