Pearson delighted to have snapped up Fleetwood striker

Leicester City have confirmed the signing of Jamie Vardy from Blue Square Premier Bet champions Fleetwood Town. Sky Sports revealed on Thursday the deal had been sealed as he shunned Cardiff and Peterborough to join The Foxes. Striker Vardy, 25, has now penned a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium and completes a deal which is a record for a non-league player, believed to be in the region of £1million. Vardy becomes Nigel Pearson's third new signing this week, following on from the arrivals of Ritchie De Laet and Matty James from Manchester United. "There were a number of clubs vying to secure Jamie's signature, so it's very pleasing that we have been able to bring him to Leicester City. He will definitely help to take us forward," said Pearson. "He has built an excellent reputation for himself through the goals he has scored at non-league level and, having studied his progress closely for some time, I have no doubt he will successfully make the step up to the Championship."
