Birmingham City have opted against signing Erik Huseklepp permanently and have allowed the striker to return to Portsmouth at the end of his loan spell.
Huseklepp moved to St Andrew's in February on a three-month deal with the incentive of trying to earn a long-term contract with Birmingham.
However, after scoring just twice in 11 appearances and not being involved in the Championship play-off semi-final against Blackpool, the Norwegian has not been retained.
He has now gone back to Fratton Park where the 27-year-old faces an uncertain future, with Pompey in administration and having been relegated to League One.
Former club Brann recently expressed an interest in signing Huseklepp and Pompey's financial troubles mean he is likely to be on the move again over the summer.
