Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King does not believe that speculation surrounding Harry Redknapp's future at the club was the reason for their slump from February onwards.
Redknapp was in the frame for the England coaching role following Fabio Capello's departure, as the Football Association considered who should take over for the Euro 2012 finals this summer.
That coincided with Spurs' poor run of form that saw them eventually lose out on a UEFA Champions League place for next season, as the London club finished fourth in the Premier League.
King, though, refuses to blame Redknapp's uncertain future at the time for Tottenham's dip in form.
"I just think the Premier League is a tough league, and you're going to have some sticky spells," he told London24. "We went on a run of losing games, but we could quite easily have won them.
"We could have got points out of those games but at that moment in time things were going against us.
"It seemed like we were winning again once everything was settled with the England manager situation, but it's a coincidence.
"I just think it was one of those things. It was a tough period - a little bit of a lack of confidence, but once we got that back we were back on a good run again."
