Kyle Walker is sad to have missed out on Euro 2012 but hopes he will recover in time for the Olympics.

Tottenham full-back says recovery will take four weeks

Kyle Walker has expressed his disappointment at missing out on Euro 2012 but is optimistic he will recover from injury in time to be fit for the Olympics. Walker's hopes of being included in Roy Hodgson's England squad were ended by a toe problem which is set to keep him sidelined for another four weeks. He admits he would have loved to go to Poland and Ukraine with his country but is now hoping to make up for that heartache by playing for Team GB at the London Olympics. "Of course I am disappointed not to be going to the European Championships," said the 21-year-old in the Daily Star.

Feeling down

"I am in contention to be in the (Olympic) squad and would love to represent my country. "I was told my recovery would take four weeks and hopefully I will be back running soon." As well as missing out on Euro 2012, Walker suffered a further blow when Chelsea's UEFA Champions League victory stopped Tottenham from qualifying for Europe's No.1 club competition. He said: "The fans are always going to feel down, we do as well," he said.
