Spain midfielder struggling with thigh problem ahead of Euro 2012

Cesc Fabregas has suffered a thigh problem that will affect his preparations for the start of Euro 2012 with Spain. The midfielder came on for the final eight minutes of Barcelona's Copa del Rey final victory over Athletic Bilbao on Friday night. But the Catalan club have now confirmed on their official website that Fabregas picked up a muscle injury which is set to keep him on the sidelines for a week to ten days. Fabregas will therefore miss a period of training with the Spain national team and could be a slight doubt for their opening game of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine. Vicente del Bosque's men begin their defence of the trophy against Italy on 10th June, before facing Republic of Ireland and Croatia in their other Group C games.
