Sky Sports understands that Anthony Gardner is set to join Sheffield Wednesday from Championship rivals Crystal Palace.
Gardner is out of contract at Selhurst Park and has reportedly attracted the interest of several clubs after an impressive 2011-12 season.
He had initially joined the Eagles on loan in the summer of 2010, before making the move permanent 12 months later.
But it now looks as though he will be embarking on a new challenge next season, with Sheffield Wednesday believed to be close to securing his services.
The Owls won promotion from League One at the end of the season after enjoying a fine run of form under Dave Jones.
