Gael Bigirimana admits it is a 'dream' to have completed a move to the Premier League and he is looking forward to the challenge of playing for Newcastle United.
The teenage midfielder has joined the Magpies on a five-year contract from Coventry City and is initially expected to be part of the club's development squad.
He made his breakthrough with Coventry in the Championship and, following their relegation to League One, the 18-year-old could not pass up the chance to move to the top flight.
Bigirimana is relishing the chance to represent Alan Pardew's side and is hoping he can force his way into the first-team picture at St James' Park.
"It's a dream, it's a dream for me," Bigirimana told the club's official website.
"Since I was a kid, I always watched the football - the Premier League and also big leagues - and I always hoped that one day I would make it.
"But I didn't realise it would be this soon, so it's an exciting moment in my life and a challenge which I am looking forward to.
"You never get too many opportunities like this. It might come once in a lifetime and sometimes you just have to take it and go and learn. It might be hard but life is not promised to be easy so that's why I took the chance.
"I'm a team player and to be around such good players I will learn every day, so hopefully I can break through."
